Rare Side Effects

To summarize, as with any medication, there are risks and benefits to taking Accutane® or any of the other isotretinoin brands. In general, Accutane® is a safe and effective drug with proper patient education, proper medical supervision and a few simple measures to prevent or minimize the side effects. Accutane® is completely out of the system one month after treatment is finished and any side effects that may have developed are usually gone by then as well. There are rare reports of some of the side effects outlined here persisting after completion of treatment. Whether they are truly linked to Accutane® therapy remains to be proven. Follow the guidelines listed here and your course of Accutane® is likely to be smooth and your acne greatly improved or cured.
